Kev sub 29 en route to World 50k; Winter Throws success

Monday 2nd March 2026

Trafford 10k podium

Scottish athlete Kev Campbell ran 28.49 to win the Run North West Trafford 10k on Sunday.

The Cambuslang  Harriers athlete was first ahead of Scott Stirling (Falkirk Victoria) in 29.20. That made it an excellent 1-2 for Scottish athletes.

We understand Kev, who is 38, moves to 14th on the all time Scottish 10k list and only three seconds behind Jamie Crowe.

And the win sets him up perfectly for soon travelling to Delhi to represent GB and NI in the World 50k Champs.

Scottish athletes impressed at the UK’s Winter Long Throws event in Loughborough.

Cumbernauld AAC athlete Sophie Robertson won the Women’s U18 hammer. Sophie went beyond 60m for the first time with 60.28m.

Andrew Peck was second in the Men’s discus with 51.46 and Chris Bennett was second, too, in the Men’s hammer with 68.36.

There was Para success for Adam Donnachie in Seated Throws with 9.40m in the shot.

*In America, Angela McAuslan-Kelly won another Weight Throw event (19.77m) and elsewhere Meghan Porterfield threw a PB in the shot at 14.05m.
