The Esports Summit Workshop focused on building a unified East African esports development program, combining player support, capacity building, and a clear competitive pathway. The goal is to move the region from scattered efforts to a more structured and collaborative ecosystem.
A Secretariat to Drive Execution
Participants proposed a three-person Secretariat to coordinate activities across the region.
- Annual budget: $13,929
- Monthly salary: $387 per staff
The Secretariat will handle:
- Vetting tournament organizers and teams
- Running training and visibility programs
- Securing partnerships with embassies, telcos, and global organizations
Championship Pathway and Timeline

A proposed East Africa Esports Championship will feature national qualifiers leading into regional and continental finals.
- Budget: $200,000
- Timeline: Qualifiers in late 2026, finals in late 2027
This creates a clear competitive structure for talent to rise from local to regional level.
Implementation and Leadership

Immediate actions include monthly coordination, dedicated communication channels, and proper documentation.
Key responsibilities were assigned:
- Ronny Lusigi will lead the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) process
- An initial approach document will be circulated to stakeholders
- Branding alignment and a joint press release are in progress
Participants also agreed to maintain player-exclusive competition integrity, ensuring fairness across all activities.
