Khushi Khanijau hit three birdies in the first four holes to return the day’s best card in the sixth leg of the Hero Women’s Pro Golf Tour at the Jaypee Wishtown Golf Course in Noida on Wednesday.
Khushi returned a 3 under par 68 to lead the opening day field by one shot, the WGAI said.
On a day when there were only three under par cards, Khushi was ahead of Shweta Mansingh and promising amateur Guntas Kaur Sandhu, who carded 2 under 69s.
Four others including this year’s only multiple winner, Ridhima Dilawari were al level par 71 for the round.
The other three were Smriti Bhargav, Jasmine Shekar and amateur Alysha Dutt.
Khushi opened birdie-birdie and added a third one on the fourth hole. Dropped shots on five and nine saw her at 1 under for the front nine. On the back nine, she birdied 10 and 12 and parred the rest.
Solid run
Shweta had three birdies against two bogeys in the first seven holes and was 1-under for the front nine.
On the back nine she had one birdie and eight pars.
Guntas birdied holes three, 10 and 12 and dropped her only shot on the 14th.
Vidhatri Urs and Saanvi Somu shot 72s and were in a big group which was tied for eighth.
Some of the others were Amandeep Drall,Yaalisai Verma, and amateurs Aradhana Manikandan, Anuradha Chaudhuri, and Ananya Datar.
Tvesa Malik and Nehra Tripathi were in shared 15th place on 2 over 73s.
