Kisii School successfully retained the Kisii County Secondary Schools Rugby 15s title after defeating rivals Cardinal Otunga High School 13–3 in the final played at Kisii School grounds.
The hosts capped off a dominant campaign on home soil to once again emerge as county champions. Both Kisii School and Cardinal Otunga will now represent Kisii County at the regional games set to be held in Kisumu County.
How Kisii School Sealed Title
In the final, Kisii School controlled proceedings against Cardinal Otunga in a tightly contested encounter.
Having already met earlier in the tournament, the hosts once again proved the stronger side, managing the game well to secure a 13–3 victory and successfully defend their county crown.
The win ensured Kisii School maintained their status as one of the region’s strongest school rugby sides while Cardinal Otunga settled for second place after a commendable run to the final.
Journey to the Final
Kisii School began their campaign with a 13–5 victory over Cardinal Otunga in the pool stages, setting the tone for the rest of the tournament. They followed that up with a 24–0 win against Rioma to comfortably secure qualification for the knockout stages.

In the quarterfinals, Kisii School delivered one of the most dominant results of the tournament, thrashing Sameta 62–0 to advance to the last four. Their dominance continued in the semifinals where they overwhelmed Bong’ota 61–0 to book a place in the final.
Cardinal Otunga recovered strongly after their early loss to Kisii School. They defeated Rioma 17–0 during the pool stages to remain in contention before advancing to the knockout rounds.
In the quarterfinals, Otunga produced a convincing performance to beat Borangi Boys 28–0 and move into the semifinals. They then secured their place in the final after a 22–0 victory over Gesero Boys, setting up a rematch with Kisii School.
Girls Competition
In the girls’ category, Nyabisase Girls were crowned champions after edging Nyagichenche Girls 3–0 in the final.
Nyabisase had earlier defeated Borangi Girls 3–0 in the semifinals to reach the championship match, while Nyagichenche booked their place in the final after beating Mesabakwa Girls 15–0.
Nyabisase Girls will now represent Kisii County at the regional games in Kisumu County.
