With the Indian cricket team set to face the New Zealand team for their first Test Match to be played on a red ball starting from October 18, 2023, the one and only Virat Kohli was seen at an airport in Mumbai. As was expected, the talented cricketer was mobbed by fans and paparazzi the moment his figure was spotted within the airport premises. While Some clicked his pictures, others tried to engage with him in a casual conversation. Just as Virat was leaving, one of the paparazzi said “BGT mein aag lagani hai (You have to light up the Border-Gavaskar Trophy)”, with the comment leaving the Indian cricket team superstar stumped.
Kohli even asked what exactly the paparazzi had said, saying: “kismien (what do I have to light up?)”. The paparazzi then said “BGT mein (in Border-Gavaskar Trophy”. Nodding, the Indian cricketer got into the car. Here’s the video:
Notably, during India’s home series against England earlier this year from January to March, the star batter Virat Kohli was unable to participate in the entirety of the series owing to the birth of his second child with his wife and Bollywood star, Anushka Sharma. The cricketer would be fully wanting to participate as November approaches and the BGT assignment commences.
In the meantime, the Indian captain Rohit Sharma is likely to be unavailable for one of the first two Tests of the series owing to a personal reason.
Considering Rohit has played in seven Test matches in Australia, he has managed to score a total of 408 runs in 14 innings played with an average of 31.38, three scores of fifty and his highest score standing at 63 not out. Overall, the ‘Hitman’ has been able to participate in 12 Test matches against the present World Test Championships (WTC) holders, scoring a total of 708 runs at an average of 33.71 which includes a hundred and three fifties. His top score is 120.
The Border-Gavaskar series between India and Australia will commence on November 22, with the 1st Test match being played at Perth.
