KKR Leaves Out Iyer From Title Anniversary Post
On May 26, 2025, KKR celebrated one year of their 2024 IPL title win. The franchise shared a photo on social media featuring most of their winning squad with the IPL trophy. However, fans noticed something strange – Shreyas Iyer, the captain of the winning team, was missing from the post.
Many felt this was disrespectful, especially since Iyer had played a big role as a leader. Even players like Mitchell Starc and Phil Salt, who were part of the 2024 squad but got released, were also not shown in the post.
Why Was Iyer Released After Winning The Title?
After the title win, reports suggest Iyer demanded a higher salary. KKR offered him a certain amount to stay, but he reportedly turned it down. Because of that, KKR decided not to retain him ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction.
Punjab Kings took this opportunity and signed Iyer. They even made him the captain, and under his leadership, PBKS reached the playoffs this season.
Shreyas Iyer’s absence from KKR’s celebration post has upset many fans, who feel he deserved more respect for what he did for the team last year.
