KKR veteran Ajinkya Rahane played a brilliant knock of 95 runs to lead Mumbai to a thrilling four-wicket win over Andhra Pradesh in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad.

After being released by Chennai Super Kings before the IPL auction, Rahane was picked up by Kolkata Knight Riders for INR 1.50 crore.

Many questioned the decision due to his age and form, but Rahane has been in superb touch during this tournament, proving he still has a lot to offer.

In the match, Andhra Pradesh batted first and put up a massive total of 229/4 in 20 overs. Mumbai needed a strong response, and Rahane delivered just that, opening the innings with Prithvi Shaw.

Rahane’s Match-Winning Innings

Rahane’s 95 runs came off just 54 balls, including nine fours and four sixes. His strike rate of 175.93 showed his ability to score quickly under pressure. He played with great control and confidence, taking on the Andhra bowlers with ease.

Unfortunately, missed out on a century when CV Stephen dismissed him in the 18th over, but by that time, he had already played an important role in setting up Mumbai’s victory.

This innings was Rahane’s third 50-plus score in five matches in the tournament. His performances have silenced critics and shown that he is ready to play a key role for KKR in the upcoming IPL season.

Mumbai successfully chased down the target with four wickets in hand, and Rahane’s knock was the highlight of the game. It proved once again why experience and class can never be underestimated in cricket.
