The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has made a huge change to the schedule of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The 19th match of the tournament, which is set to be played between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), has been rescheduled.
The KKR vs LSG match in the IPL 2025 was all set to take place on Sunday (6th April) at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. But, due to security reasons in the city due to the festival, the match has been pushed two dates ahead of the original schedule.
The Kolkata Police instructed the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) to move the match, and hence, the BCCI was forced to move the Kolkata Knight Riders vs Lucknow Super Giants match in the IPL 2025 to Tuesday (8th April). The game will be played in the afternoon window at 3:30 PM.
This now means that Sunday (6th April) will be a single-header day in IPL 2025 with Sunrisers Hyderabad hosting Gujarat Titans at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. Also, Tuesday (8th April) will be a double-header with KKR vs LSG in the afternoon, followed by PBKS vs CSK in the evening in the newly built Stadium in Chandigarh.
Releasing the official statement, the IPL governing council stated:
“The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announces the rescheduling of Match No. 19 of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), originally scheduled for Sunday, April 6, 2025, at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
“The decision follows a request from Kolkata Police to the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) regarding the deployment of personnel across the city owing to festivities. The authorities have recommended that the game be moved to Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at 3:30 PM, and the request has been accommodated accordingly. The rest of the schedule remains unchanged.”
