Kl Rahul to stay with Lucknow Super Giants ahead of IPL 2025 auction: Reports

The Lucknow Super Giants, a team in the Indian Premier League, might keep KL Rahul as their captain for the big auction of IPL 2025. A news story on Cricbuzz said that Rahul, who joined the Lucknow team for 17 crore rupees before the big auction in 2022, talked with the team’s owner, Sanjeev Goenka, on Monday at the team’s office in Kolkata.

The meeting that lasted for one hour was mainly about the team’s players for the next season of the money-rich league and the possibility of keeping Rahul. Even though it’s not certain that the Lucknow team will keep Rahul, the fact that the owner called him in could be a sign of it.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India hasn’t said yet how they will handle keeping players for the next season of the money-rich league, and any decision by the teams about keeping players will probably be made after they announce the rules.

Rahul last played for India in the second One Day International against Sri Lanka, held at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. The 32-year-old player, who is a wicketkeeper and batter, will now participate in the Duleep Trophy 2024, starting on September 5.

Rahul started his IPL career in 2013 with Royal Challengers Bangalore and then played for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 2014-2015 seasons. He was bought by the Punjab Kings in the IPL 2018 auction and captained them in the 2020 and 2021 seasons of the world’s wealthiest cricket league. The right-handed batter from Bangalore holds the record for the most runs scored in IPL history for both Punjab Kings and Lucknow Super Giants.

Former Indian fast bowler Zaheer Khan is expected to become a mentor for Lucknow Super Giants. Reports suggest that Zaheer’s role will be confirmed soon, and he is likely to work with Justin Langer, who will remain the head coach.
