Cricket players will receive a match fee in the IPL for the first time since the competition’s launch in 2008; this match cost will be in addition to their auction price, BCCI secretary Jay Shah said on Saturday. Shah hailed it as a historic action and explained that it was a celebration of the IPL’s constancy and exceptional accomplishments.
Match fees will total INR 7.5 lakh for each cricket player. This implies that players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Jasprit Bumrah can earn an additional INR 1.05 crore if they play every league match for their team.
“We are excited to offer a match price of INR 7.5 lakhs every game for our cricketers in a historic gesture to honor consistency and promote excellent performances in the #IPL! In addition to his contracted salary, a cricket player who participates in every league game during a season would receive Rs. 1.05 crores, Shah stated on X.
Shah stated that every season, each club will set aside an extra 12.60 ₹for match expenses. “Match fees for the season will total INR 12.60 crores for each franchise! For the #IPL and our players, this is a new era,” he continued.
The momentous announcement coincides with a meeting between the IPL Governing Council members and team owners to finalize player retention procedures before to the massive action.
Before the massive auction, which is scheduled for November of this year, the board is probably going to grant each franchise a maximum of six retentions, which will include a Right To Match (RTM) card.
There is disagreement among the franchise owners, which is why the retention guidelines haven’t been announced yet. It’s thought that teams like Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Mumbai Indians (MI), Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), and Mumbai Indians (KKR) are adamant on keeping more of their core players.
However, the teams who seek a new pool of players in the major auction include the Delhi Capitals (DC), Punjab Kings (PBKS), and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).
There will probably be an official announcement on the same soon.
