Kohli Takes Break, Rohit to Make Key Decision for SL ODIs

The unavailability of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Jasprit Bumrah has been discussed as the Indian cricket team embarks on a new era under Gautam Gambhir. According to reports, Gambhir wants all three players to be ready for the series because Team India doesn’t have many ODI matches left before the ICC Champions Trophy in February. A rumor has suggested that Rohit may shorten his vacation to accompany his teammates in Sri Lanka for the ODI assignment next month, following Gambhir’s call for his first meeting with the Indian team.

The BCCI secretary Jay Shah, Gambhir, and chief of the selection committee Ajit Agarkar reportedly held a meeting when the new head coach of India discussed his goals for the team and the kind of players he hopes to have on the squad.

Since the Indian team will only play two ODIs before the Champions Trophy the following year, captain Rohit, who is now taking a much-needed holiday in the United States, may choose to travel to Sri Lanka for the ODI series. But Rohit hasn’t made his intention official yet.

Rohit would definitely be the team captain if he were to go to the island nation with his buddies. KL Rahul has been mentioned as one of the best possibilities for the position, should he decide to pass on the series.

Regarding Kohli and Bumrah’s availability for the series, the report stated that neither player will be available for the ODI series, and that a review is also not anticipated.

Additionally, it has been stated that Hardik Pandya, the star all-rounder for India, will not be eligible to be selected for the ODI assignment. Though it hasn’t been confirmed yet, he is probably going to be playing for the team in the T20I series. He may also be appointed the team’s captain.
