Kohli’s Childhood Coach Optimistic About India’s 2024 World Cup Win

As the cricketing world gears up for the highly-anticipated ICC T20 World Cup final between India and South Africa, the excitement and expectations are at an all-time high. Among the many voices expressing their optimism is Rajkumar Sharma, the childhood coach of Indian cricket star Virat Kohli. Ahead of the final showdown at the Kensington Oval in Barbados, Sharma shared his thoughts on India’s stellar performance in the tournament and Kohli’s form.

A Dream Within Reach

India’s journey to the final has been nothing short of spectacular. After an unbeaten run in the 2024 T20 World Cup, the Men in Blue have made their third consecutive appearance in an ICC final. This follows their participation in the World Test Championship 2023 and the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 finals. Sharma believes that India’s consistent performance and determination will lead them to victory this time.

“It is a matter of great joy that we have finally reached there and that too without losing a single match. I am very hopeful that today we will win this match and lift the trophy. We have not won the ICC trophy for a long time, today that dream of ours will be fulfilled,” Sharma told ANI.

Kohli’s Form: A Strategic Move

Despite being the leading run-scorer in the Indian Premier League (IPL) this year with 741 runs, Virat Kohli has struggled to make a significant impact in the T20 World Cup, scoring only 75 runs in seven innings. However, Sharma remains confident in Kohli’s abilities and believes that his form is not a concern.

“There is no problem with his form. He is playing good cricket. I feel that the strategy of the team is to catch the powerplay or whatever plan is there, they are batting keeping that in mind. He has not made too much run but there is nothing to worry about. The team is doing very well, which is very important. India is looking very very strong with our spinners doing so well,” Sharma added.

A Historic Feat on the Horizon

Under the leadership of skipper Rohit Sharma, the Indian team has demonstrated flawless synergy and outstanding performances throughout the tournament. This unity and determination have propelled them to an undefeated record in the T20 World Cup. The Men in Blue are now on the brink of replicating their historic achievement from 2007 when they lifted the inaugural Men’s T20 World Cup trophy under the captaincy of Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

India’s recent history in ICC finals has been bittersweet. They faced defeats against Australia in both the ICC World Test Championship final in London and the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup final in Ahmedabad. This time, the team is determined to overcome the final hurdle and secure the coveted T20 World Cup trophy.

The Final Showdown

India’s opponent in the final, South Africa, has also had an impressive run in the tournament. The Proteas secured their spot in the final with a dominant nine-wicket victory over Afghanistan. The final promises to be a thrilling encounter between two undefeated teams, with both sides aiming to etch their names in cricketing history.

As the Indian team prepares to face South Africa at the Kensington Oval, fans and cricket enthusiasts around the world eagerly await the outcome. Will India’s dream of lifting the T20 World Cup be fulfilled? Rajkumar Sharma and millions of Indian supporters are hopeful that the Men in Blue will emerge victorious and bring the trophy home.
