Match day ten across the Kenya Cup and the KRU Championship failed to reach full conclusion after three fixtures were abandoned, prompting the Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) fixtures committee to review the circumstances surrounding the affected matches and determine the appropriate course of action.
One of the key decisions involved the KRU Championship clash between Mean Machine and Mombasa RFC. The committee ruled in favour of the coastal side, awarding Mombasa RFC full points from the fixture. The match will be officially recorded as a 28–0 win for Mombasa RFC, while Mean Machine will also be docked two points.
According to the committee, the ruling was made after determining that the relevant competition regulations had been breached. The decision was guided by Regulation 13.6.4.6(b)(ii) on match abandonment together with Clause 8 of the 2025/26 league manual, which addresses match venues.
EDITOR’S PICKS:
In the Kenya Cup, the fixture between KU Blak Blad and Impala RFC, which did not take place as scheduled, has now been rescheduled to a midweek date ahead of the final round of league matches. KU Blak Blad will retain hosting rights for the encounter as originally planned.
The two teams have been instructed to complete the match by Wednesday at noon, allowing players adequate recovery time before the final round of Kenya Cup fixtures set for March 14, 2026.
The third disrupted match involved the Kenya Cup heavyweight clash between KCB Rugby and Kabras Sugar RFC, which was abandoned during play. In this case, the fixtures committee ruled that the score at the time the match was halted will stand as the final result of the fixture as it had been played till the half-time break.
