LaMelo Ball involved in two-car collision in Charlotte while driving custom Hummer

Charlotte Hornets guard LaMelo Ball was involved in a two-car collision on a Charlotte street on Wednesday while driving a custom 2022 Hummer.

Ball was attempting an unprotected left turn onto Tryon Street when his vehicle collided with a sedan traveling in the opposite direction. The driver of the sedan was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Ball was seen exiting his vehicle at the scene. Video of the aftermath showed Ball leaving the damaged Hummer and getting into a Lamborghini. Both vehicles involved in the collision were towed from the scene.

Some questioned whether Ball followed proper protocol after the crash. The footage circulated widely on social media following the incident.

Previous driving incidents

Ball’s driving has drawn public attention prior to this collision. Multiple reports and videos have documented Ball driving at high speeds near the Spectrum Center after games. Wednesday’s accident adds to a pattern of scrutiny around his behavior behind the wheel.

His transition from the Hummer to a Lamborghini at the scene generated additional commentary on social media, with observers noting the optics of the vehicle switch immediately following a collision that sent another driver to the hospital.

Hornets availability

Ball is not expected to appear on the Hornets’ injury report as a result of the accident. Charlotte’s next game is a home matchup against the Houston Rockets, and there has been no indication from the team that Ball’s status is affected.

No charges or citations from the incident have been publicly reported at this time. The collision remains the subject of public discussion as video from the scene continues to circulate online.
