Le Mans in Charles Leclerc’s future? The Ferrari driver names his perfect endurance line-up

One of Charles Leclerc’s biggest dreams, beyond becoming a Formula 1 world champion, is to compete in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. In a recent interview, the Ferrari driver revealed what he considers to be his perfect line-up for the most iconic endurance race in motorsport.

Leclerc recently opened up about one of his long-held ambitions: racing in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. After all, almost every motorsport fan dreams of taking part in this legendary event, and Charles Leclerc is no exception. The Le Mans race is contested by three-driver crews, and the Monegasque driver explained who he would want alongside him in a hypothetical appearance after his Formula 1 career.

A family 24 Hours of Le Mans for Charles

Leclerc revealed that he dreams of racing alongside his brother Arthur Leclerc, with whom he shares a very close bond. To complete the crew, Leclerc would choose one of his closest friends, Antonio Fuoco, who currently competes in the World Endurance Championship and has already won the famous endurance race at Le Mans.

It would be a perfectly balanced line-up, but what about the car? When it comes to the machinery, the choice would be an obvious one. All three drivers are closely linked to Ferrari, so the car selected for this hypothetical race would naturally be the Ferrari prototype that has won the last two editions of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Leclerc admitted his dream during an interview at the historic French Grand Prix event:

“The 24 Hours of Le Mans? Fred Vasseur is already watching me discreetly. It’s a dream I’ve always had: racing it together with my brother Arthur and Antonio Fuoco would be incredible. I don’t hide the fact that I want to try it. The idea of taking part in this legendary race fascinates me enormously.”

Is Leclerc aiming for the Triple Crown?

The Triple Crown of motorsport is an unofficial title awarded to drivers who manage to win the three races considered the most important in history: the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the Monaco Grand Prix in Formula 1, and the Indianapolis 500. To date, the only driver to have achieved the Triple Crown is Graham Hill. Fernando Alonso attempted the feat but fell short of completing it.

Charles Leclerc, having won the Monaco Grand Prix last season, has already secured one third of this prestigious recognition. With his clear desire to compete in the most famous endurance race of all, the possibility of chasing the Triple Crown appears closer than ever:

“I don’t know if I’ll ever want to try the Indianapolis 500 as well. At the moment, it’s not something I’m thinking about, but when it comes to Le Mans, I’m sure. I hope it can happen soon.”
