The fortunes of Le Mans Ultimate and its publisher, Motorsport Games, have undergone a complete reversal in the last two years.

Since its Early Access release in February 2024, LMU and its custodian have enjoyed burgeoning sales, fresh investment and steadily rising player numbers, all mated to a consistent drip-feeding of new content and an engaging multiplayer mode.

Last week’s ELMS Pack Part 3 DLC and V1.3 update are case in point, adding the Duqueine D09 LMP3 car and Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya and several technical advancements, respectively.

The icing on the cake was the Genesis GMR-001 LMDh Hypercar, which was delivered to all players at no cost, with Hyundai’s World Endurance Championship challenger yet to make its real-world debut.

This sweet Easter treat directly led to record player numbers, with 8,809 concurrent players reported via Steam on the 31st March 2026. This surpassed the game’s previous record of 8,463, set in July 2025, marking LMU’s V1.0 release.

Considering barely a few hundred people were playing the game in its initial stages, this represents incredible growth for the platform, with a comprehensive career mode and console versions set to arrive in future set to boost engagement further.
