Le Mans Ultimate showcases new career elements, mode delayed

Career mode was originally slated for Q1 2026, but this will now be “later this year” for Le Mans Ultimate.

“I think it will be the best career mode that exists in racing,” said Motorsport Games CEO Stephen Hood, back in July 2025, to Traxion.

Let’s hope that remains the case when it is added to Le Mans Ultimate this year.

During the announcement for the upcoming ELMS DLC Pack 3 and Version 1.3 game update, it was confirmed that the single-player mode will be moved from the originally planned Q1 2026 to sometime later.

“The career mode will be one of the most significant additions to Le Mans Ultimate which we are still committed too, and providing a great single player experience is still very our ambition,” said Motorsport Games.

“Given the complexity of this feature, we are determined to give it the necessary time and it is now expected to be delivered later this year.”

Alongside news of the shifted timeline, new images were provided, from which some information can be gleaned.

For instance, there appear to be at least two starting levels (main article image):

  • Young Driver, “zero to hero”
  • Wealthy Amateur, “pay your way to better drives, quicker”

Differences between initial budget amounts are $250,000 for the former and $5,000,000 for the latter – but either way, the career mode is replicating the notion that, in real-world GT drivers, most drivers need at least some cash for drives.

The difficulty level can be adjusted between rounds, where there is also a facsimile of a social media feed, reminding us of the F1 game’s Braking Point (minus the narrative). In this example, FIA WEC presenter Alexa Rendell, Iron Dames driver Michelle Gatting and Porsche driver Laurens Vanthoor’s posts are seen.

Stills also show a season-long target, a key rival, and, analogous to some of the Project Motor Racing career elements, a race entry cost and a damage bill. Actual brands of Milwaukee (tools) and Sheel are also seen, with three possible slots.

Briefly, an in-race menu is seen, with a track map showing where AI-controlled drivers are mid-race and the ability to skip to your behind-the-wheel stint.

A key element will be the signposting of paid-for DLC content, of which there is a great deal for Le Mans Ultimate. 2024-WEC season and 2025-ELMS season tracks, for example, are optional extras. In the calendar user interface, we can see a memo that notes:

Le Mans Ultimate Career Mode DLC

“DLC – These rounds will require additional DLC. You’ll have the option to obtain the DLC, replace these events or skip them altogether.”

“We know career mode is a feature many of you are eagerly awaiting and we acknowledge it’s been on our roadmap for some time,” said Motorsport Games.

Alongside this major game mode, the Studio 397 development team is also working on (alongside an external partner) a console version of Le Mans Ultimate, which is expected in 2027.

A Version 1.3 update will be released on 31st March 2026, alongside the final instalment of the aforementioned ELMS DLC.
