For the first time in his career, legendary England pacer James Anderson has taken his chance and signed up for the mega auctions for Indian Premier League. The player has put his price at Rs. 1.25 crore. James had recently retired from international cricket after he participated in his first Test match in West Indies in July 2024.
Even though James has registered for it, England Test captain Ben Stokes is threatened to be jammed from the next season since he has stepped back from the auctions.
According to the new regulations, until the home board states the player to be injured, an international player will not be given permission to partake in the mini-auctions in the following year if their name is not included in mega-auctions.
Before the 2025 season of IPL, BCCI implemented a new rule that states for a player to be barred from both the tournaments and auctions for two seasons if the player registers for the auction and then withdraws after being selected.
