Blockbuster boxing returns to the UK this weekend as Leigh Wood and Josh Warrington headline at the Nottingham Arena on Saturday.
Wood and Warrington first met in late 2023 in a fierce encounter that ended in dramatic fashion.
‘The Leeds Warrior’ entered that contest as the favourite despite coming off a loss to Luis Alberto Lopez, but was halted in the seventh round.
Warrington is a two-time featherweight world champion. He lifted his first world title in 2018 when he beat Lee Selby by split decision at Elland Road in his hometown of Leeds.
He went on to defend the title three times, earning notable victories over Kid Galahad, Carl Frampton and a second-round stoppage of Sofiane Takoucht.
The Leeds man was eventually dethroned by Mauricio Lara, who stopped him in the ninth round after dropping Warrington in the fourth.
The 35-year-old regained the IBF featherweight world title just over a year after his first loss, stopping Kiko Martinez in the seventh round despite fighting through a broken jaw.
However, he suffered three losses between 2022 and 2024, including his stoppage defeat to Wood. He returned to winning ways with a unanimous decision victory over Asad Asif Khan in April last year.
Wood is set to fight in front of his hometown crowd at the Nottingham Arena for the fifth time in his career.

He comes off a brutal ninth-round stoppage loss to Anthony Cacace — a fighter Warrington has also lost to.
‘Leigh-thal’ was counted out despite his corner throwing in the towel.
The rematch promises fireworks once again, supported by a packed undercard.
