This new game is basically Texas Hold ’Em meets the back nine.
LET IT RIDE
PERFECT FOR:
Golfers who think variance is a lifestyle choice and believe fortune favors the bold.
THE IDEA
Make a good score? Earn points.
Feeling confident? Let those points ride.
Feeling nervous? Bank ’em and sleep well.
Just remember: greed is rewarded… until it isn’t.
SETUP
Before teeing off:
-
Set a dollar value per point (e.g., $1, $5, or “I’ll explain this to my spouse later”).
-
Agree on the scoring scale:
Typical Point Values
- Par = 1 point
-
Birdie = 2 points
-
Eagle = 4 points
NOTE: A group of less talented players may start point eligibility at bogey or better.
HOW TO EARN POINTS
On any hole where you make a par or better, you earn points based on your score.
Once you earn points, you immediately face a crucial life decision:
LETTING IT RIDE (THE FUN PART)
If you choose to let your points ride:
Example:
2 points from doubling hole 5 and 1 point for another Par.
Feeling unstoppable? Let it ride…..
THE CATCH (OF COURSE THERE IS ONE)
If you’re riding points and make a bogey or worse:
Greed giveth, greed taketh away.
SCORING & PAYOUT
-
Only banked points count at the end of the round.
-
Players are paid (or pay) based on the difference in total points between players.
-
Multiply the point difference by the agreed dollar value.
WHY YOU’LL LOVE IT
-
Rewards hot streaks and fearless golfers
-
Keeps everyone engaged on every hole
-
Turns a casual birdie into a “should I cash out?” moment
-
Perfect for golfers who enjoy equal parts strategy, swagger, and regret
Pro Tip: Two birdies in a row without banking?
That’s the equivalent of six pars at 1 point each.
You’ll be insufferable — and richer.PRINTABLE GAME CARD
