Concluding the series against the Guardians, the Dodgers lineup was looking to finally get going. Instead, they got dominated arguably worse than they have all season. That led to a 4-1 loss that also meant a series loss. The vibes from the sweep to start the season are long gone, lol.

Yoshinobu Yamamoto was on the mound, but the Dodgers still managed to get behind early. He went six up and six down to start, but a lead-off double to Daniel Schneemann started the 3rd, and he then stole third on Yoshi and scored on the errant throw from Will Smith to make it 1-0 Guardians.
Gabriel Arias then immediately followed by hitting a towering homer to dead center that made it 2-0 (again) to the Guardians.

In the 4th, he saw a lead-off four-pitch walk erased by a double play, and he had to work around a pair of singles in the 5th to keep the deficit where it was. He then hit a batter to start the 6th, but again a double play helped him face the minimum.
Not sharp, as evidenced by the lack of put away, but solid outcome: 6 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 1 BB (1 HBP), 2 K, 87 Pitches.
Taking over for him in the 7th was Will Klein, who gave up a single in a scoreless inning, then came out for the 8th and had some trouble. After getting the first out, he issued a walk but saw that erased by a caught stealing, then issued another walk.
That was the end of his night, as Tanner Scott entered for Jose Ramirez, and he pummeled a homer to left despite the 0-2 count to make it 4-0 Guardians.

Blake Treinen got a scoreless 9th to close that chapter.

The Dodgers helped out Guardians starter Gavin Williams with three double plays, but other than that, the story of the game was his complete dominance.
He didn’t allow more than on baserunner through five innings, then the 6th started with a single and walk to put a pair on for Shohei Ohtani. No matter, he got a double play from him that basically killed off the rally, and Williams got the next four batters to complete his outing.
10 strikeouts over seven shutout frames on just 85 pitches before he (thankfully) exited.
Their pen closed the game, not allowing a run in the 8th despite a one-out single and two-out double. Though the shutout was ruined by a Freddie Freeman homer, his first, in the 9th to make it 4-1.
The Robert Van Scoyoc discourse is back, baby.
To be fair, the debate over him has gone back seasons. https://t.co/5h3Jz2FKpm

4-2. Season over.
The Dodgers will now have another day off tomorrow as they travel to the East Coast for a three-game series with the Nationals. It’ll start at 7:05 AM HT/10:05 PM PT/1:05 PM ET and will feature Emmet Sheehan looking to maintain his velo later into the game against “checkbook baseball” guy Miles Mikolas.
