India vs Sri Lanka: The first India vs Sri Lanka ODI match played on Friday ended with a dramatic finish. A few days back, the third T20I game ended in a tie, and India won the Super Over. And now the first ODI between the two teams has also ended in a tie. Sri Lanka pulled things back after getting all out for a below par score.

The hosts won the toss and decided to bat first. They only managed a total of 231/8 in the first inning. Chasing the score, India thrash Sri Lanka in the first powerplay courtesy of Rohit Sharma’s assault. But as soon as he got out, India couldn’t register a good partnership.

There were some 20s-30s, but not a big score. In the end, India needed one run off 14 balls with two wickets in hand. But India lost two back-to-back wickets and got all out for 231. The game ended in a tie. But there were a few good records and milestones achieved in the first India vs Sri Lanka ODI.

3rd Indian Opener with 15000 runs: Rohit Sharma played a blistering knock of 58 off 37 balls. With this, he became only the third Indian opener to complete 15000 international runs after Virender Sehwag (16119) and Sachin Tendulkar (15335). Overall, he is the 10th opener with 15000 or more runs in international cricket.

Fastest to 15000 runs: Rohit was very good before getting out and played some brilliant shots. He completed 15000 runs in his 352nd inning and became the second-fastest opener to do so, going past David Warner’s 361 inning. Sachin is at the top with 331 innings.

Most runs in Bilateral series: Virat Kohli has almost 26000 international runs. He scored 24 off 32 in the first India vs Sri Lanka ODI. With this, he completed 21000 runs in bilateral series (non-multinational or tri series). He has now second-most runs after Sachin (22960).

Most International sixes by Captain: Hitman Sharma smashed three sixes in his innings; with this, he went past former English captain Eoin Morgan to hit most international sixes by a captain. Morgan had 233 sixes in 180 innings as captain, while Rohit has now 234 sixes in just 134 innings as captain.

Most sixes vs SL in ODIs: Rohit hit three sixes in the first India vs Sri Lanka game. With this, he took his tally of sixes to 53 against Sri Lanka in ODIs. He has hit second-most sixes against SL in ODIs after Shahid Afridi (63).
