According to CJ, it all started at Liv Morgan’s farm, where they were recording an episode of Identity Crisis, CJ’s podcast. That’s when Liv dropped a bombshell in strict secrecy.
“She was like, ‘Okay, I have to tell you something. Super kayfabe.’ And I’m like, ‘Oh my God, what?’ And she goes, ‘I’m returning at Survivor Series.’”
While it wasn’t confirmed at first, Liv hinted it was likely happening—and CJ immediately wanted in. Days passed with no word until Wednesday, when CJ landed in Washington, D.C. Liv called to confirm: the return was a go.
“She calls me and says, ‘It’s happening.’ Wow. It is happening. ‘I am coming back this Saturday.’ And I asked, ‘What are you doing?’ She said, ‘I’m not going to tell you. I want you to go along for the ride.’”
To keep everything on lockdown, Liv rented a private jet and flew in with a small, trusted group of friends and family—CJ included. Every move was calculated to avoid leaks.
“She told me she was getting a private jet to fly her and our group of friends, and she wanted me to come and stay in the Airbnb with her. But it’s a super jet—she got a private jet.
Oh my gosh. She wanted to bring her best friends and her family, but she didn’t want to give anything away. She knew anything could leak. So she got a private jet and they flew there. She’s sending me selfies like, ‘We’re going, seeing you soon.’”
CJ Perry even had to hide the trip from their mutual agent, resorting to vague cover stories.
“Nick’s asking, ‘Where are you?’ And I’m like, ‘I’m at an Airbnb with my friends.’ ‘Which friends?’ ‘Just my friends that love wrestling, you know.’”
Security was tight—even inside the arena. Everyone in Liv’s circle wore hoodies to stay under the radar. But CJ had no idea when Liv would appear—or how big the moment would be.
“We all had to wear hoodies to the arena and hide. I don’t know how everyone did it, but then the next thing you know, I had no idea she was coming out during the John Cena match.”
