Liverpool now sit level on points with fourth-placed Chelsea in the Premier League table thanks to a 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest on Sunday.

Alexis Mac Allister’s goal deep into added time earned the Reds an important victory at The City Ground and, while they remain sixth in the top flight standings, Arne Slot’s side are level on points with the Blues in the race for Champions League qualification.

The reigning Premier League champions recruited heavily last summer but have struggled this term, and are set to fail in their attempts to retain their crown.

This summer could be another busy one at Anfield, and it is now emerging that one member of Slot’s squad could be allowed to leave the club.

According to Football Insider, Liverpool could consider selling midfielder Cody Gakpo this summer if they can find a suitable replacement for the Dutchman.

Gakpo, 26, joined the Reds from Dutch side PSV Eindhoven back in 2023 and has since made 163 appearances for the club across all competitions, scoring 48 goals and registering 21 assists.

Last term the Netherlands international contributed a combined 15 goals and assists in 35 Premier League games for Slot’s side as they cruised to the top flight title, but this time around the attacker has struggled for consistency.

Liverpool as a team have struggled this term, losing eight times already in the Premier League, and the report suggests that those in charge of the club could be willing to make changes this term which could mean Gakpo would be allowed to move in if a replacement was signed.

The ex-PSV man primarily operates on the left flank for Slot’s side, and the report claims that Liverpool could be willing to offload the player if they recruit in that role during this summer’s transfer window.
