Liverpool make the short trip to face Manchester City in the FA Cup on Saturday.
The reigning Premier League champions have endured a difficult season so far, but Arne Slot’s side remain in contention to finish in the top four and qualify for next term’s Champions League.
The Reds will also reach the semi-finals of the FA Cup at Wembley if they beat the Citizens, and Slot will be desperate to see his side to exactly that.
In the meantime, an update has emerged one the future of a key Liverpool player.
According to Fabrizio Romano, via CaughtOffside, central defender Ibrahima Konate is now ‘open’ to staying put at Anfield despite uncertainty surrounding the player’s future at the club.
Konate, 26, joined Liverpool from German giants RB Leipzig back in 2021 and has since established himself as a key player for the Merseyside outfit, making more than 170 appearances across all competitions.

The Frenchman has struggled this season, though, with his performances well below the level he maintained during Liverpool’s title winning season last year.
Konate’s contract with Liverpool is set to come to an end this summer, and the France international has been heavily linked with a move away from the club.
Romano claims, however, that the centre-back is ‘open’ to the idea of staying put, with talks over a new deal ongoing.
Spanish giants Real Madrid had been touted as a possible destination for the defender, but the report claims that the La Liga side have informed Liverpool that they will not be pursuing a move for the player this summer.
It is claimed that talks between Liverpool and Konate are ongoing, although it remains to be seen whether or not the two parties can reach a financial agreement.
