Liverpool will continue their pursuit of a top four place in the Premier League table when they face the league’s bottom side, Wolves, on Tuesday night.

The Reds cruised to a 5-2 win over West Ham United in their last outing, moving Arne Slot’s side up to fifth in the Premier League table.

While Arne Slot’s side are set to fail in their bid to retain their top flight crown, the Merseyside outfit are well-placed to qualify for the Champions League next term, particularly if the English top flight benefits from a fifth qualification spot.

Ahead of their visit to Molineux, it has emerged that the Reds are well positioned to sign a talented defender from the French top flight.

As per Sports Boom, Liverpool are in pole position to sign RC Lens centre-back Samson Baidoo this summer.

The defender has been in fine form for Lens this term, with the French side currently sitting second in the Ligue 1 table.

It is claimed that both Liverpool and Man City are well positioned to sign the player when the transfer window reopens, with a deal likely to cost in the region of £40-55 million.

Baidoo, 21, joined Lens from Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg last summer and is enjoying an impressive debut campaign in France.

The defender recently suffered an injury setback, but is set to make a return from a hamstring problem imminently.

It is claimed that Baidoo’s blend of physical dominance and technical skill have seen him emerge on the radar of several clubs, with both Liverpool and Man City particularly interested in the player.

Baidoo signed a long-term deal with Lens when joining the club last summer, and is therefore tied down to the club until the end of the 2029/30 season.
