Premier League champions Liverpool host Newcastle United on Saturday evening.
Arne Slot’s side have endured a disappointing campaign so far and currently sit sixth in the top flight table, 14 points behind leaders Arsenal.
While the Reds would have initially hoped to retain their top flight crown, Slot will now have shifted his focus to qualifying for next term’s Champions League.
In the meantime, with the January transfer window slamming shut on Monday, it appears that Liverpool have made a decision on the short-term future of one of their midfielders.
As reported by TEAMtalk, Liverpool have blocked an approach from Italian giants Inter Milan for midfielder Curtis Jones.
The report claims that the Reds have rebuffed an approach from the Serie A leaders for the Englishman, who has featured 29 times for the club across all competitions so far this term.

It is claimed that Inter had held talks with the player’s representatives in recent days in the hope of reaching an agreement, and Jones himself was said to be ‘intrigued’ by the prospect of a move to Italy.
Despite Inter’s interest in the England international, the report suggests that Liverpool regard Jones as a key player and have no intention of allowing him, or any other important squad members, to depart Anfield in the closing days of the window.
Having progressed through the youth ranks at Liverpool, Jones has now made more than 200 appearances for the Merseyside outfit across all competitions, scoring 19 goals and registering 23 assists.
While Jones has featured regularly for Slot’s side this term, he has started just ten of Liverpool’s 23 Premier League matches so far.
Jones’ contract with the Reds is set to run until the end of the 2026/27 campaign.
