Liverpool were dealt a huge blow in their pursuit of a Champions League qualification spot on Tuesday as they succumbed to a 2-1 defeat against Wolves.
The reigning Premier League champions arrived at Molineux sitting in fifth place in the top flight table, but were behind when Rodrigo Gomes found the back of the net with a little over ten minutes remaining.
Mohamed Salah quickly responded for the Reds and the game looked to be heading for a draw, until Andre restored the hosts’ lead deep into added time, inflicting a significant blow on Liverpool’s pursuit of a top four spot.
Arne Slot will expect to see his side return to winning ways when they once again visit Wolves in their next match, this time in the FA Cup on Friday evening.
Ahead of that tie, it has emerged that the Merseyside giants are plotting a move to sign a highly rated Serie A midfielder.
As per CaughtOffside, Liverpool are hoping to beat fierce rivals Manchester United to the signing of Juventus star Khephren Thuram.
The report claims that the two Premier League sides have both identified the Frenchman as a potential transfer target as they look to bolster their respective midfield departments.

Thuram, 24, joined Juventus from French side Nice in 2024 and has since made 86 appearances for the Old Lady across all competitions.
The midfielder – son of former France international Lilian and brother of Inter Milan star Marcus – has impressed for Juventus so far this season and his form has attracted the attention of both Liverpool and Man United.
It is claimed that Liverpool are particularly interested in signing a midfielder with the type of profile that Thuram has, and the Reds are therefore set to explore a possible deal worth an initial fee of around £39.5 million, plus potential add-ons and bonuses.
Premier League leaders Arsenal are also said to be interested in the Frenchman, who is under contract in Turin until the end of the 2028/29 season.
