Suryakumar Yadav, the T20I captain, commended Sanju Samson’s outstanding personality and dedication, which he believes are very important for one in Samson’s profession. While playing a quick-fire century, Samson took apart the bowling attack and unleashed an array of shots that most cricketers could only dream of. His menace took a toll on South African bowlers who had to work hard to stop the rampant flow of runs from the Indian shores. The aggression of the 29-year-old was not limited to just the way he batted.
Celebrating his achievements with gusto in every single way, so strong is the character that he possesses and the one-build up that the Indian side is trying to create. The team’s motivation is someone they already have in their squad — in the form of Samson.
As per Yadav, a perfect example of this was how he attempted a needless boundary excuse even when he was in the 90s, pure class.
“Look, the amount of hard work he has put in over the last few years, doing the boring work, he is now reaping the benefits of it. More so, he was in the 90s, but still, he was seeking a boundary, playing for the team that shows character, and that’s what we look for,” Suryakumar stated in the post-match presentation.
India continued its winning streak in Durban with a convincing victory by 61 runs. The Indian captain confessed that he was not aware of their dominance in Durban.
“Is it? I did not know about that. I just got to know right now. We have not altered our style of cricket for the past 3-4 series and am very pleased with the win,” Suryakumar quipped.
It was a chase of 203 runs that could very well have provoked a nerve-wracking chase – especially when both David Miller and Heinrich Klaasen were at the crease.
Despite their reasonable silence, the fernanda pretul rather existed for the pair due to the history of hard-hitting that they had created for themselves.
Suryakumar made the bold move of bowling Varun Chakaravarthy in the 12th over, which indeed was the turning point of the first match of the series.
Within just one over, he accounted for the dangerous pair, which then created insurmountable odds for the opponent. This was followed up in perfect unison by Ravi Bishnoi, who caused a cascade of wickets to fall for South Africa.
“Crucial wickets of Klaasen and Miller were what we focussed on, and their (spinners’) performance, as it turned out, was simply remarkable,” Suryakumar said.
At last, the Indian captain praised his fellow players for helping him a great deal and carrying out their responsibilities fearlessly.
“The boys have made my work simple. I do not have to carry any burden. The kind of fearless approach they have been portraying on the field and off it, the boys are quite happy and that makes my work easy. The style of cricket that we play, even if we lose a couple of wickets, we still play with no fear. It’s a T20 match. We know we have 20 overs but if you can chase down 200 in 17 overs, what’s stopping you,” he ended.
