Mercedes Moné is a pro wrestler who has some of the most passionate supporters, and detractors, in the business. First as WWE’s Sasha Banks and now as The CEO whose home office is AEW, over the course of her decade-plus career Mone’s been the topic of numerous debates on the wrestle web. Last year, as Mercedes collected championships in independent promotions around the globe, the argument was over whether she was doing it for love of the game or her own ego.
We’re not looking to rehash that argument here — but if you want to in the comments, be nice and have at it. If you do, here’s something else to consider… in the past couple days, Moné has been announced for three appearances outside the United States, two of which are defenses of belts she won in those promotions last year:
The Winnipeg show is also interesting because AEW is in town the next night for a live Dynamite and a Collision taping. Mercedes announced she was taking a break from the company shortly after dropping its TBS title to Willow Nightingale on New Year’s Eve. That was the last of three championships she lost in December. She hasn’t been back on AEW programming since the Jan. 10 Collision.
