LSG youngster flaunts his range with a fabulous 51-run knock in the Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2024

He looked in good nick from the first ball, and his knock literally took the opponent out of the game.

A Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) young star scored a marvellous ton against Oman in the Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2024 in Al Amerat. He looked in good nick from the first ball, and his knock literally took the opponent out of the game.

Ayush Badoni, the 24-year-old batter of LSG, scored a brilliant 51 in just 27 deliveries, including six boundaries and two maximums, at a strike rate of 188.89. He was severe against all bowlers, but his best part came against Samay Shrivastava when he took 24 runs from the 10th over, hitting three fours and two sixes.

Before this match, Ayush batted at No.5 against Pakistan A and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) but had a promotion in this game and came at No.4 ahead of Nehal Wadhera. The move paid dividends as Badoni ended as the leading run-scorer of the game and the only player to amass a fifty from either side.

This knock was filled with several glorious shots, and Badoni flexed his range and repertoire by churning out different shots all around the park. He eventually got out on the first delivery of the 14th over as Aamir Kaleem dismissed him, but not before putting India A in a commanding position.

India A top the table with a six-wicket victory over Oman

After winning the toss, Oman elected to field first and did well to reach 140/5 in their allotted 20 overs. Mohammad Nadeem top-scored 41 runs, while Hammad Mirza (28) and Wasim Ali (24) also played fine hands with the willow.

As many as five India A bowlers dismissed a batter each, while other bowlers were also economical in their spells. During the chase, India A were off to a stable start in the absence of the regular opener, Prabhsimran Singh.

However, Anuj Rawat couldn’t last long and was out while looking to break shackles. Abhishek Sharma played a fine 34-run cameo in 15 deliveries before Ayush cracked a timely fifty.

The captain, Tilak Varma, remained unbeaten on 36, while Ramandeep Singh hit two sixes to complete the job with six wickets remaining. India A ended the league stage without losing any match and topped the table.
