LUNCH WITH PETER O’MAHONY
Rugby legend PETER O’MAHONY has been unveiled as guest speaker for Buccaneers Business Networking Lunch which takes place in Athlone’s Sheraton Hotel on Friday, February 27th. (1 p.m. to 5 p.m.).
O’Mahony is one of Ireland’s legendary rugby players first coming to notice as captain of the country’s U-18 and then U-20 levels. Indeed, he is familiar with Dubarry Park having been part of the Ireland squad that played there in 2008 and 2009, captaining the side in the second season. He was an iconic figure with his home province Munster and the flanker was a key backrower for the Ireland Senior side for many years, winning over 100 caps. O’Mahony captained both sides and also the British & Irish Lions in a test against New Zealand in 2017.
Peter has won many honours including 5 Six Nations Championships, Grand Slam wins in 2018 and 2023, and a pair of United Rugby Championship titles with Munster for whom he was their Senior Player of the Year in 2019. Married to Jessica, he has two sons and a daughter, Peter loves gardening in his retirement!
