Major Shifts in Test and ODI Rankings After Mumbai

The latest ICC rankings have seen significant shifts following the thrilling third Test between India and New Zealand in Mumbai. Rishabh Pant and Daryl Mitchell made notable climbs in the Test Batting Rankings, while bowlers like Ravindra Jadeja and Keshav Maharaj also saw improvements. Shaheen Afridi and Mitchell Starc rose in the ODI rankings after their strong recent performances. These changes reflect the growing competition and talent across both formats of the game.

Pant and Mitchell surge in test rankings after Mumbai test

Rishabh Pant and Daryl Mitchell climbed in the ICC Men’s Test Batting Rankings after their strong performances in the third Test between India and New Zealand.

Pant scored two half-centuries in the match, rising five places to number six. He is now just one spot away from his career-best ranking of fifth in 2022.

Pant’s rise is even more impressive given his recovery from a serious car accident, proving he’s back to top-tier cricket.

Daryl Mitchell moved up eight places to seventh overall after his strong performance in the Mumbai Test. His 82 in the first innings was key to New Zealand’s 3-0 series win.

This is yet another milestone for Mitchell as he joins his team-mate Kane Williamson in the top 10 Test batters rankings.

Jadeja and others bowlers make moves in latest rankings

Indian spinner Ravindra Jadeja took huge strides in the latest Test Bowler Rankings by climbing two places to sixth. After several strong performances, Jadeja is now ranked just below the top bowler, Ravichandran Ashwin.

Washington Sundar also has climbed seven places to 46th. This improvement of Indian bowlers points out the depth of spin talent in Indian cricket. Ajaz Patel of New Zealand and Ish Sodhi moved up when Patel jumped 12 places to 22nd, while Sodhi advanced three places to 70th.

Keshav Maharaj of South Africa climbed four spots to 19th in the rankings after taking 13 wickets in his team’s series sweep over Bangladesh.
