In-form Manchester United welcome Tottenham Hotspur to Old Trafford in the Premier League on Saturday.
The Red Devils have beaten Manchester City, Arsenal, and Fulham since Michael Carrick was appointed as caretaker head coach last month, following the sacking of Ruben Amorim after 14 months in charge.
Carrick’s side impressed in victories against both City and Arsenal, but relied on Benjamin Sesko’s late winner to secure all three points against the Cottagers on Sunday.
One player that has undoubtedly benefitted from Carrick’s arrival at Old Trafford is midfielder Kobbie Mainoo, who has featured more regularly since the Englishman’s appointment.
Now, TEAMtalk claims that United are accelerating talks over a new contract with the midfielder.
Mainoo, 20, is a product of Manchester United’s youth system and has now made 89 appearances for the club across all competitions, having enjoyed an outstanding breakthrough season during the 2023/24 campaign.

The England international fell out of favour during Amorim’s tenure, though, and failed to start a single one of United’s 21 Premier League matches this season prior to Carrick’s appointment.
According to the report, the Red Devils have pencilled in talks about a new deal for this month, with Mainoo’s current deal set to expire at the end of next season.
The midfielder – who pushed for a loan move away from United during last summer’s transfer window – is valued at around £60 million.
It is claimed that United’s director of football, Jason Wilcox, has reached out to Mainoo’s representatives to reassure the player that they are keen to keep hold of him long-term, revealing that it was Wilcox himself who insisted on not allowing him to leave last year.
So far this season the Englishman has made 17 appearances across all competitions, providing two assists.
