Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim will hope to see his side continue their recent resurgence when they face Aston Villa on Sunday.

The Red Devils were held to a 4-4 draw by Bournemouth at Old Trafford in their last outing, with both sides leading before eventually sharing the points.

That result moved United up to sixth in the Premier League table, although Amorim will likely be pleased with that considering the dismal start to the season that his side endured.

Now, it appears that the Manchester outfit have been handed another boost.

According to TEAMtalk, Man United have leapfrogged rivals Chelsea in the race to sign Lens midfielder Mamadou Sangare.

The report claims that the Red Devils are now in pole position to land the 23-year-old, who has been in fine form for the French side of late.

Sangare joined Lens from Austrian side Rapid Vienna over the summer and has since been an ever-present for his current side, making 15 appearances across all competitions.

Chelsea are also said to be keeping tabs on the midfielder, although their London rivals West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur are also in the running to land Sangare.

The Malian is under contract at Lens until the summer of 2030, having signed a long-term contract with the French side when joining earlier this year.

Sangare is said to be valued at around £13 million, and the report suggests that Lens could be tempted to cash in on the player for a fee in that region just months after forking out just £7 million for the player.

United were on the hunt for a new central midfielder over the summer, with Crystal Palace star Adam Wharton and Brighton’s Carlos Baleba identified as potential targets.
