Manchester United return to Premier League action on March 15 when they host Aston Villa.

The Red Devils had endured a dismal first half of the campaign, but have endured something of a revival since Michael Carrick was named as caretaker head coach in January.

United have won six of their last eight matches in the league, although they did suffer a defeat against Newcastle United in their last outing.

Ahead of their match against Villa, however, it has emerged that Man United have their eye on a Premier League midfielder.

As per CaughtOffside, Man United are pondering a substantial offer for Nottingham Forest midfielder Ibrahim Sangare.

The report claims that those in charge of United’s recruitment have added the Ivory Coast international to their shortlist of potential transfer targets as they look to bolster their ranks in midfield.

United are on the hunt for a new midfielder amid uncertainty surrounding the future of Casemiro, and the report suggests that their scouts have been ‘impressed’ by the midfielder’s performances.

It is also claimed that the Manchester club are preparing an offer of around £43 million for the player.

Sangare joined Forest from Dutch giant PSV Eindhoven in the summer of 2023, and has since established himself as a key player for the club.

In total the Ivorian has made 66 appearances for Forest across all competitions, including more than 50 games in the Premier League.

United could also face competition in the race to land the midfielder, though, with the report suggesting that both Aston Villa and West Ham United are interested in the player.

Sangare’s contract at The City Ground is set to run until the end of the 2027/28 season, but it appears that the club could soon face a battle to keep hold of the player as interest in him increases.
