Manchester United travel to the south coast to face Bournemouth in the Premier League on Friday night.

Michael Carrick’s side are firmly on course to finish in the top four and qualify for next season’s Champions League, despite the Red Devils having endured a dismal campaign prior to the Englishman’s appointment and caretaker head coach in January.

Carrick has overseen seven wins from nine matches, including impressive victories against Manchester City, Arsenal, and Tottenham Hotspur.

Away from the action, it appears that supporters of the Manchester club could soon have yet more reason to celebrate.

As per TEAMtalk, Manchester United are close to agreeing a huge new contract with midfielder Kobbie Mainoo.

The report claims that United are increasingly confident about their chances of agreeing a bumper new deal with the Englishman, who was included in Thomas Tuchel’s 35-man England squad for upcoming friendlies against Uruguay and Japan, announced on Friday.

It is claimed that the club are set for talks with Mainoo and his representatives during the upcoming international break, with the midfielder’s current deal set to expire at the end of the 2026/27 season.

Mainoo is a product of United’s academy and enjoyed a superb breakthrough campaign a couple of years ago.

The 20-year-old has already made 95 appearances for the club across all competitions at senior level, but found himself somewhat out of favour during former head coach Ruben Amorim’s tenure at Old Trafford.

Since Carrick was appointed, though, the England international has featured in every one of United’s games, re-establishing himself as a key player for United.

The midfielder’s return to the England squad will also be a boost, as he bids to be included in the Three Lions’s squad for this summer’s World Cup in the United States.
