Manu Bhaker Meets Rahul & Sonia Gandhi After Double Olympic Win

Olympic double medalist Manu Bhaker, who recently made history at the Paris Olympics 2024, met with Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi, marking a moment of celebration for the young athlete’s remarkable achievements.

On Friday, Bhaker, who has become a national sensation after winning two bronze medals in pistol shooting at the Paris Games, was warmly received by Rahul Gandhi. The meeting took place just two days after the 22-year-old shooter landed in the national capital, following her triumphant return from Paris.

Rahul Gandhi, who has often been vocal in his support for Indian athletes, congratulated Bhaker on her historic performance. The young athlete’s success, he said, was a testament to her hard work, determination, and the potential of India’s youth on the global stage. Gandhi also emphasized the importance of supporting and nurturing young talent in sports to inspire future generations.

Later, Bhaker met with Sonia Gandhi at her 10, Janpath residence. The Congress party shared a photograph of the two, celebrating Bhaker’s incredible achievement of securing bronze in both the women’s 10m air pistol event and the 10m air pistol mixed team event, where she partnered with fellow shooter Sarabjot Singh.

“Today Manu Bhaker, who brought glory to the country by winning two bronze medals at the Paris Olympics, met CPP Chairperson Smt. Sonia Gandhi,” the Congress party posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.

The post was accompanied by a photograph of Bhaker with Sonia Gandhi, highlighting the pride and joy that her achievements have brought to the nation. Bhaker’s accomplishments have made her a national icon, inspiring countless young athletes across the country.

At just 22 years old, Bhaker’s success at the Paris Olympics is nothing short of historic. She became the first Indian since British-Indian athlete Norman Pritchard, who won two silver medals in the 200m sprint and 200m hurdles at the 1900 Olympics, to win two medals at a single Olympic Games.

Bhaker’s journey to the podium was filled with challenges, but her perseverance and dedication paid off in the most spectacular way. Her victory in the 10m air pistol event, followed by her success in the mixed team event, has firmly established her as one of India’s brightest stars in the world of sports.

As India celebrates Bhaker’s double Olympic triumph, her meetings with Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi are symbolic of the recognition and honor that she has earned on the global stage. Bhaker’s historic win is not just a personal victory, but a moment of pride for the entire nation, showcasing the potential of Indian athletes to excel at the highest levels of international competition.
