March 10, 2026 — The national preseason girls’ lacrosse Top 10

We’re a little late in starting out in our quest to identify the finest girls’ lacrosse team in all the land. We start with our annual dart-throwing exercise resulting in our Top 10.

Our No. 1 side is obvious: the factory that is now South Huntington St. Anthony’s (N.Y.). The Friars are playing a number of good teams such as Darien (Conn.), Victor (N.Y.), and Cold Spring Harbor (N.Y.). I think a major point in their season will occur April 25th when they take on Nyack (N.Y.) at the Gains for Brains showcase.

Keep an eye also for Lutherville Maryvale Prep (Md.), your defending IAAM champions. The team starts off with a pair of incredible road matches against Washington Georgetown Visitation (D.C.) today and Olney Good Counsel (Md.) on Thursday.

I think also you’re going to see some titanic matchups between PAISAA champion Rosemont Agnes Irwin (Pa.) and InterAc regular-season champion Newtown Square Episcopal Academy (Pa.). And it’s in these championship designations that will color these games and their implciations.

One year ago, Episcopal went through its regular season undefeated, but the PAISAA playoffs took place during the school’s May Term, a two-week educational opportunity that takes students around the nation and the world exploring a kaleidoscopic variety of topics.

For the record, the two schools’ league fixtures take place April 17th at Episcopal, and May 12th at Agnes Irwin, and these should be two of the better games taking place all season.

1. South Huntington St. Anthony’s (N.Y.) 17-0
2. Lutherville Maryville Prep (Md.) 16-5
3. Newtown Square Episcopal Academy (Pa.) 18-0
4. Coronado (Calif.) 17-0
5. Rosemont Agnes Irwin (Pa.) 18-3
6. Manchester (Md.) Valley 16-0
7. Brooklandville St. Paul’s (Md.) 12-4
8 Darien (Conn.) 20-2
9. Victor (N.Y.) 18-3
10. Bayport-Blue Point (N.Y.) 19-1
And bear in mind: Lewes Cape Henlopen (Del.) 15-0-1, Delray American Heritage (Fla.) 18-3, Milton (Ga.) 20-2, Winnetka New Trier (Ill.) 23-3, Owings Mills McDonogh (Md.) 14-3, Olney Good Counsel (Md.) 18-3, Concord-Carlisle (Mass.) 23-2, Charlottesville St. Anne’s-Belfield (Va.) 23-2
