March 27, 2026 — Friday Statwatch for games played through March 25

Hello, friends, and welcome to a new year of Statwatch, the weekly feature through which we use numbers and statistics in order to bring together the past and present in the game of lacrosse.

We notice that there are a couple of sophomores who are doing great things on the attack end. Jenna Mathews, an attacker from Spanish River (Fla.) has already figured in 105 goal involvements in her play thus far. Fellow Floridian Gabby Ulrich has 116 goal involvements. These two players will have more than two and a half seasons in order to make their mark on the game.

Speaking of making their marks on the game, a pair of 500-win coaches met up Wednesday as Orlando Lake Highland Prep (Fla.) met Alexandria St. Stephen’s/St. Agnes (Va.). On the day, the Saints, coached by Kathy Jenkins, beat the Highlanders 9-8. Lake Highland Prep is coached by Chris Robinson, who recently broke the 500-win barrier. Rare has been the time when 1400 wins have been on the sidelines, but it happened Wednesday.

Below in the red are our usual provisional gathering of American scholastic lacrosse statistics from available published sources, including MaxPreps, Berks Game Day, the KHSAA, The St. Louis Post-Dispatch, PhillyLacrosse, and Advance Media. If we can get more teams, state federations, and local leagues to adopt the easy-to-use MaxPreps.com platform, we can aim for as complete a statistical picture of the country as possible.

This being the first roundup of statistics for the season, what you see above isn’t going to be great. The closure of newspapers has also been a terrible thing in terms of being able to cross-reference statistical information.

This is where you come in. If you see something missing, please feel free to email us at TopOfTheCircle.com. We would appreciate your statistic or your feedback. Thanks for reading Statwatch; we’ll be back next week with more and better info. We hope.
