Mason Crane Signs Three-Year Deal with Glamorgan

Mason Crane, the legspinner who has played one Test for England, has made his loan move to Glamorgan permanent by signing a three-year contract. Crane, 27, originally from the Hampshire youth system, has had a standout season with Glamorgan after joining on a season-long loan.

Crane has been a key player for Glamorgan, leading their wicket-taking charts in both the County Championship (24 wickets at an average of 42.87) and the T20 Blast (17 wickets at 16.94). Expressing his enthusiasm for the move, Crane said, “I’m very grateful for the opportunity to make this move permanent. I’ve loved every minute here and am very excited for the next chapter.”

Glamorgan’s head coach, Grant Bradburn, praised Crane’s contributions and integration into the team, stating, “Mason has been an outstanding addition this season. His success is testament to the culture our players have welcomed him into. We feel very fortunate to have Mason’s quality at the club and look forward to building more success with him.”

Crane began his professional career with Hampshire, making his debut as a teenager and quickly rising through the ranks. He played two T20Is for England against South Africa in 2017 and made his Test debut during the Ashes tour later that year. However, injuries and loss of form have limited his opportunities in first-class cricket since then.

Despite these challenges, Crane has been part of successful Hampshire squads, winning the Royal London Cup in 2018 and the T20 Blast in 2022. Reflecting on his time with Hampshire, Crane said, “I would like to thank everyone at Hampshire for an amazing journey over the years. We have created some memories together that will last forever, but now is the time for me to start a new chapter.”

Crane’s move to Glamorgan marks a new phase in his career, where he hopes to continue his development and contribute significantly to the team’s success.
