Massive Blow for SRH! Travis Head Tests COVID Positive, to Miss Clash vs LSG

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have suffered a major blow ahead of their next IPL 2025 match against Lucknow Super Giants. Their in-form opener, Travis Head, has tested positive for COVID-19 and will not be available for the game on Monday, May 18, at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.

The news was confirmed by Sunrisers Hyderabad’s head coach, Daniel Vettori, during a press conference. He mentioned that Head’s travel to India was delayed due to COVID. He added that the Australian batter is expected to land in India tomorrow morning, after which the team management will check his condition.

“He was delayed; he actually had COVID, so he couldn’t travel. He’ll get in tomorrow morning, and we’ll assess how he is after that,” said Vettori.

Travis Head was expected to play a crucial role in SRH’s top order for the remainder of the season. But with him missing the match against LSG, it adds more problems to SRH, who are already struggling in the league.

Sunrisers Hyderabad are placed eighth in the IPL 2025 points table, with 11 points from 11 matches. They are already out of the playoff race.

After this match against Lucknow, SRH have two games left — one against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on May 23 and another against Kolkata Knight Riders on May 25.

Whether Head will be fit to play in those two matches will depend on his recovery and assessment after arrival.
