Charith Asalanka has been given the responsibility to lead the hosts after Wanindu Hasaranga stepped down from the captaincy. But the Sri Lankan team suffered a major blow as ace pacer Dusmantha Chameera has been ruled out of the IND vs SL series. The 32-year-old suffered an injury at the last moment.

As a result, he has been ruled out of the series. The Sri Lankan Cricket Board (SLC) confirmed that news on Wednesday. However, there is no replacement that has been announced yet. Chameera has been suffering from injuries since 2022. He has played continuously and has been suffering various injuries.

His last match was on July 9 against the Jaffna Kings. Earlier, he joined the KOlkata Knight Riders as a replacement for Gus Atkinson. He was also part of Sri Lanka’s team for the T20 World Cup 2024 but didn’t’ play a game. And now he suffered another injury.

Meanwhile, it will be a new challenge as Sri Lanka had a horrible T20 World Cup 2024. They couldn’t go past the group stage. As a result, Hasaranga and head coach Chris Silverwood both stepped down from their positions. The hosts have mainly picked up players for the IND vs SL series who did well in the Lanka Premier League 2024.
