Rajasthan Royals stand-in skipper Riyan Parag had a decent outing with the bat during the game against Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati is hosting the 11th game of the tournament.
Riyan Parag, who walked out to bat number four, looked pretty positive during his stay at the crease. The Rajasthan Royals stand-in skipper kept his team in a decent position till the time he was on the crease, as he hit timely boundaries to keep the run rate going.
Riyan Parag played some crisp shots in his innings and was looking all set for his first half-century of the season. But the batter had a terrible end to his innings as he first coped with a blow on his elbow, which saw the lapse of concentration for him and he ended up giving his wicket.
On the 4th ball of the 18th over, Matheesha Pathirana bowled a shortish delivery and Riyan Parag was early into the pull and missed. The ball hit his right forearm/elbow, and he looked in immense pain. He immediately put the bat down and ran to the side of the pitch in pain.
The ball hit the bone flush as the batter was wincing in the pain. The physios also came up rushing and after some treatment, he was back on the foot. But, it surely hampered his confidence, and Matheesha Pathirana cashed on that on the very next ball.
Matheesha Pathirana bowled a pin-point off stump yorker, which arguably was the best ball of the match. The ball went on to hit the base of the off stump as Riyan Parag attempted to swing across the line and missed.
