Matt Hardy believes the sky is the limit for the former Powerhouse Hobbs following his surprise debut at the Royal Rumble. Royce Keys entered the match to a strong reception, marking his first major appearance since leaving AEW.
Speaking on The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy, Hardy expressed his excitement for his former colleague. He revealed that he reached out to Keys shortly after the debut to offer his congratulations.
“Super happy for him. Really cool, really cool. He got to debut at a Royal Rumble, which is such a landmark event in so many ways,” Hardy said. “And it was cool, man. I shot him a text afterwards, heard back from that night, so chatted with him just a little bit, very, very happy, very happy for him that he’s getting that opportunity.”
Hardy, who worked alongside Keys in AEW, sees immense potential in the powerhouse. He believes Keys has the physical tools and presence to become a main event player in WWE immediately.
“I think he has such a massive potential to be a big star, and hopefully he realizes that,” Hardy stated. “I think he’s got a high ceiling. I mean just looking at him as he is right now, I can see him as someone who’s a player. Someone who’s a player like, in that US title, Intercontinental title mix right from the jump. And he has the potential to be a player and challenge for the world title as well.”
