The Dallas Mavericks are handling their front office search internally and have not brought in an outside firm to help identify their next head of basketball operations, according to league sources who spoke with Marc Stein of The Stein Line.
Dallas is expected to decide on Nico Harrison’s permanent replacement sometime after the regular season concludes but before the NBA Draft in June.
Current co-interim general managers Michael Finley and Matt Riccardi are considered among the potential candidates for the role.
Stein adds that, no matter who is ultimately chosen to lead the front office, there is increasing support within the organization to keep veteran forward Khris Middleton with the team beyond this season.
Middleton has played 14 seasons for 4 teams, including the Bucks and Wizards. He has averaged 16.2 points, 4.7 rebounds and 3.9 assists in 832 regular-season games.
He was selected to play in 3 All-Star games, and has won 1 NBA championship.
