Max Boxing – Sub Lead – Bruce Carrington

Max Boxing – Sub Lead – Bruce Carrington

On January 31, it’s gonna be “The Shu Shu Show” in Shu-York City.

Slotted on the undercard of the highly anticipated Teofimo Lopez / Shakur Stevenson card is a great bout that pits an experienced veteran against an undefeated fighter looking to solidify his hold on his WBC world title.

Undefeated, WBC interim world featherweight champion Bruce “Shu Shu” Carrington (16-0, 9 KOs) is heading to back to his popular and familiar worksite of Madison Square Garden to close out the first month of 2026.

Carrington will be going up against Mexican veteran Carlos Castro (30-3, 14 KOs). Castro is 3-3 in his last 6 after going a perfect 27-0 after turning pro in 2012.

It should be noted that his only 3 losses have come against contenders Luis Nery, Stephen Fulton, and Brandon Figueroa, so he brings the experience of a rugged veteran into his bout with Carrington.

Carrington is no stranger to fighting in New York, as he will be clocking in for the 8th time at the most famous arena in the world, which is not far from his home in Brooklyn, where he was born and raised.

Carrington, now living and training in Las Vegas, Nevada, snagged the WBC (interim) world title in only his 15th pro fight after turning pro less than 5 years ago.

Carrington’s cool, easy-going personality outside the ring contrasts with his laser focused in-ring game that sees him box or bang with equal precision.

While Carrington is the favorite, looking to turn his interim title into a full world title, he can’t look past Castro. But he is definitely excited to get going.

“When I got the news, I was going to be fighting for the world title I almost cried”, he said. “This is a major milestone in my career.  This is a dream come true and everything is starting to fall into place”.

And he is very excited to be fighting in New York City.

“It’s the best place in the world. There is no place like New York City. I just wanna continue to make everyone proud”.

And if he wins the full world title, what is next?

“I’m calling out every champion”.

Something tells me that on January 31, New York City will become Shu-York City.
