The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) suffered another disappointing loss by 38 runs against the Gujarat Titans (GT) on Friday, May 2, making their chances for playoff qualification even tougher going forward. The Orange Army’s chances seem bleak, even if they win all four of their remaining games.
The last game in Ahmedabad was another poor performance from the last season’s finalist, who were looking lethargic in the field in the first innings, which led to the Titans scoring plenty of runs and setting a massive target of 225 runs. Commentators Deep Dasgupta and Harbhajan Singh slammed the performance of the Hyderabad franchise, bringing up SRH’s vacation in the Maldives.
“It looks like SRH are here physically in Ahmedabad, but mentally they are still in Maldives. We were talking about ordinary bowling, but the fielding has been quite ordinary too,” Dasgupta said on Star Sports.
Harbhajan was also critical of the fielding and gave a reference of their holiday in Maldives.
“This ball should have been stopped. The fielder had dived, but not as good as he would have done in Maldives. They must have jumped and dived around a lot in swimming pools there, but cannot see that on the ground here,” the four-time IPL winner followed.

Let down a few more catches and were the guilty party: Pat Cummins
Apart from the commentators, SRH skipper Pat Cummins did not seem pleased with the fielding efforts from the team as well and expressed it in the post-match presentation after the loss. Cummins also complimented the GT batters on how they approached the game without taking much risk.
“Our powerplay with the ball wasn’t too great, and we let them get 20-30 runs extra. Let down a few more catches and were the guilty party. They are class batters, they do not do anything outlandish, and they didn’t do anything risky,” Cummins said.
