— Boston College captured its first Beanpot title since 2016 with a win over Boston University on Monday night at TD Garden, a game that also marked the 300th all-time meeting between the rivals. Ryan Conmy dished out four assists, while James Hagens was named the tournament’s MVP.
— Merrimack rolled past Stonehill, 9-5, last week behind four-point nights from Trevor Hoskin and Justin Gill.
— The Warriors and Eagles have combined to go 8-1-1 over their last five games. Merrimack has suffered just two losses over the past two months — both to UMass — dating back to a Dec. 6 defeat at UConn.
— In the Hockey East standings, BC enters the weekend tied for second place with UConn, with both teams sitting on 31 points. Merrimack is tied for sixth with Maine and Northeastern, with all three teams holding 23 points. The Warriors are just three points (one game) back of Boston University for fifth place and have two games in hand on the Terriers.
— The weekend matchup features two of the most dangerous power-play units in the country. BC enters ranked No. 7 nationally at 27.3 percent, while Merrimack checks in at No. 12 at 24.5 percent.
