Meta releases Super Bowl ad featuring IShowSpeed chasing after a plane

Meta is bringing internet culture straight to the Super Bowl stage, and one of the most eye-catching moments in its Super Bowl LX campaign belongs to iShowSpeed.

Meta’s Super Bowl ad sends IShowSpeed sprinting after a plane

The popular streamer and content creator appears in a chaotic, high-energy scene that shows him sprinting across an airport tarmac chasing after a plane, a sequence that perfectly mirrors the over-the-top style that made him a global online star.

The spot is part of Meta’s Super Bowl commercial rollout for Oakley Meta Performance AI glasses, which will air during the first and third quarters of Super Bowl LX on Sunday, Feb. 8. The ads had their worldwide premiere earlier on NBC’s TODAY show and are designed to live both on television and across social platforms, leaning into creator-driven momentum and fast-paced, shareable moments.

The absurd blends in with performance

Directed by Antoine Bardou-Jacquet and set to Travis Scott’s “HYAENA,” the commercial blends absurd humor with a sharp focus on performance. The camera stays tight on faces, including iShowSpeed‘s, while highlighting how the Oakley Meta glasses capture and enhance intense, real-time experiences. The approach reflects Meta’s effort to connect elite athletic moments with the kind of raw, energetic content that thrives online.

iShowSpeed is part of a wide-ranging cast that includes Marshawn Lynch, Spike Lee, PGA Tour breakout Akshay Bhatia, and Olympians Sky Brown, Kate Courtney, and Sunny Choi.

The campaign will extend beyond the broadcast with short-form digital content and Super Bowl-week activations around the San Francisco Bay Area, where fans will be able to experience the glasses firsthand. Some athletes and creators competing in the Gatorade Hydration Games will also wear the Oakley Meta glasses, offering a first-person perspective for viewers at home.

By featuring iShowSpeed in such a chaotic, memorable moment, Meta is clearly aiming to bridge sports, entertainment, and internet culture. The result is a Super Bowl ad built not just for the biggest stage in sports, but for the social media conversation that follows long after the final whistle.
